The Canisius College Western New York Teacher Residency program is the recipient of a three-year, $115,000 grant from the Cullen Foundation.

The program builds on the medical school residency model in that it provides students with the underlying theory of effective teaching and a year-long residency, in which students practice and hone their skills alongside teacher-mentors in high-needs classrooms.

This is the second grant awarded to the Western New York
Teacher Residency program from the Cullen Foundation.  The organization
previously funded the program when it was established.  The continued
support from the Cullen Foundation will assist with staffing and recruitment to the program.
