It’s Flashback Friday! Each Friday we will include historical facts about the college in The Dome, on Facebook and Twitter. Flashback Fridays are another part of our yearlong Sesquicentennial celebration, which culminates in 2020 when Canisius turns 150 years old.
Flashback to September 1940 – Buffalo Memorial Auditorium opened to the community in October 1940, and in December that same year, Canisius had the honor of playing the first collegiate basketball game against Oregon in the $2.7 million arena, which seated upwards of 15,000.
