Canisius College climbed to the 19th spot in the top tier of U.S. News & World Report’s 2020 rankings for America’s Best Colleges, Regional Universities – North.  Canisius moved up four spots from its 2019 U.S. News ranking of 23rd among 128 regional universities in the North.

Canisius was recognized for student excellence, its first-year student retention rate, its average graduation rate, small class sizes, faculty resources and its average alumni giving rate.  U.S. News separately ranks comprehensive colleges and universities by region of the country.

In addition to Canisius’ climb among top tier regional schools, U.S. News & World Report includes the college on its list of Best Value Schools.  Canisius ranked 5th out of 75 regional universities in the North, up five spots from last year. Canisius was recognized for the percent of students who receive grant-based need (71 percent) and the average discount from the total cost of the school (41 percent).

The Best Value Schools ranking takes into account a school’s academic quality (based on U.S. News’ Best Colleges ranking) and the net cost of attendance for a student who received the average level of need-based financial aid.  The higher quality and the lower the cost of the program, the better the deal.  Read more.
