Small Group Online Discussions in D2L

Reminder: Shutting Off Classroom Projectors

Did you know that the lamps in Canisius’ classroom video projectors have a finite life span and that they cost between $99 and $400 (depending on the projector model) to replace? Did you know that when “standby” or “A/V Mute” is selected, the projector lamp is still being used? Please help us get the best value from our lamps by shutting down the projectors in your classrooms at the end of your class.

– Do you need information on how to shut down a projector in a particular room or on how to use the document camera, play a DVD or hook up your laptop to the projector? Log on to the my.canisius.edu portal, click on “Campus Services” in the launchpad to open its drop-down menu, and click on “What is in My Classroom?” You can use the “Select Classroom” option to find valuable information on how to operate the technology in each classroom on campus.

– Do you need a demonstration of a particular feature of a room? Contact the Media Center by emailing Erik Michaelsen, instructional media technician, at michaele@canisius.edu, Nathan Johnson, instructional media technician, at johnsonn@canisius.edu or Dan Drew, director of the media center, at drewd@canisius.edu. Within a few days, a link on the Media Center’s portal page to a video showing how to use the feature of the room that you are interested in will be posted.
