Campus Candids

Petey gave out lots of hugs and high-fives at last Thursday’s President’s Welcome and Blessing.

The Koessler Center was packed with members of the Class of 2023, their parents and Canisius faculty and staff on Thursday, August 22 for the President’s Welcome and Blessing. Vice President for Student Affairs Daniel Dentino, PhD, and President John Hurley welcomed the newest members of the Canisius family, and President Hurley offered some advice to students on how to best take advantage of their Canisius education. He also told parents that if their children take his advice, they will be significantly transformed in four years. Mike Hayes, director of campus ministry, offered a blessing, during which all students held up flameless candles.

Sara Morris, PhD, interim vice president for academic affairs, read the college’s Academic Promise and Abby Hughes from the Undergraduate Student Association invited students to recite the Student’s Pledge.  The event closed with the singing of the Alma Mater.

President John Hurley offers new students some words of wisdom.
