Canisius College joins the ranks of thousands of other colleges and universities across the nation to establish itself as smoke, tobacco and nicotine-free campus.
The policy states that the use of tobacco and associated products, including vaping products, on all campus grounds and facilities is prohibited. This includes all outdoor common and educational areas, college buildings, college-owned, on-campus housing; campus sidewalks; campus parking lots; recreational areas; outdoor stadiums; and college-owned and leased vehicles (regardless of location). Sale of tobacco and all tobacco-related products on campus is also prohibited. The policy is in effect as of August 26, 2019, the first day of class in the fall semester.
The full policy can be accessed here.
Studies show that smoke, tobacco and nicotine-free policies have a positive impact on the health and well-being of a community. They can help current users quit, prevent others from starting, eliminate secondhand exposure, and influence attitudes toward tobacco and nicotine use. The Office of Human Resources welcomes you to visit their offices to learn more about resources and support services available for those who are trying to stop using smoke, tobacco and/or nicotine products.
