Canisius College is saddened to report the passing of longtime employee and friend E. Joyce Eulner. The former director of personnel died on Sunday, July 21 at her home in Kentucky.

Joyce Eulner joined the Canisius community in 1958 as secretary to the registrar. Over the next 40-plus years, she progressively rose through the Canisius ranks holding such positions as secretary to the dean of faculty, executive secretary and assistant to the executive vice president for academic affairs.

In 1978, the college promoted Eulner to director of (non-academic) personnel, a position she held until her retirement in 2004. Her tenure was marked by the high caliber of support staff she hired whom enabled the smooth running of many offices and departments.

Known to take her enthusiasm for the college far beyond her prescribed duties, Eulner was a faithful attendee of Griffs basketball games, Little Theater performances, and Fitzpatrick and Raichle lectures. Her flair of design is evidenced on the college’s Distinguished Alumni Wall of Honor on the second floor of the Richard E. Winter ’42 Student Center, which Eulner was instrumental in developing.

The family of Joyce Eulner is planning a celebration of her life, to be held at a later date. Condolences may be sent to her sister: Kathy Gray / 300 Trellis Lane / Irmo, South Carolina, 29063.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Canisius College Development Office, 2001 Main Street, Buffalo, NY 14208 for the E. Joyce Eulner Scholarship Fund.
