With the development of the Catholic Health System’s (CHS) partnership at Science Hall and increasing activity on the main campus, some new parking regulations will go into effect this summer.

We are making great progress on the renovations to Science Hall. Although we don’t expect the construction to be complete until early August, CHS and their partners at Epic health systems are planning to begin their work on campus in interim space available in Science Hall, Old Main and Churchill Tower beginning on May 22.  They are expected to have teams working on campus between 7 AM and 7 PM.

I know parking has been a concern for some, but our studies demonstrate that we can comfortably accommodate CHS.  Our agreement with CHS provides for 125 spots over the term of the lease. Fifty (50) of those spots have been made available on the second floor of the Science Hall Parking Ramp and seventy-five (75) in the Spillman Lot. All CHS parking spots have been identified and are distinguished by White Paint stripes versus the traditional yellow. They will also receive Canisius parking tags that identify them as CHS employees and authorize them to park in designated areas. This summer, the ramp will remain open to all to accommodate the additional activity on campus.

Finally, with the Institutional Advancement Division now housed in Martin Hall, we have many additional employees on the main campus and an increased number of guests and donors visiting Canisius. Therefore, the Main Eastwood (Bagen) Lot will no longer have relaxed parking rules during the summer. Only “A” permits are permitted to park in the Main Eastwood Lot.  Please also remember that the Tower Lot is designated for visitors only throughout the year.  As a courtesy to our guests, please observe these restrictions. Flexible parking is permitted in other employee parking lots effective May 20 through August 16, 2019.

Thank you for your support, and I appreciate your cooperation as we implement these changes.
