Canisius College Physics and Pre-engineering hosted Can Kerse, PhD, postdoctoral fellow at the University of Toronto on Friday, April 12. Dr. Kerse presented his recent discovery on material processing with femtosecond lasers. His discovery increases the material processing speeds by 1,000 times without causing any significant damage. Dr. Kerse and Erden Ertorer, PhD, clinical instructor of Physics and Mathematics, are in collaboration with the manufacturing industry in Buffalo for industrial applications, as well as Buffalo Medical Corridor to enable high speed minimally invasive surgeries with femtosecond lasers.

A pair of Canada geese have decided that the flower beds outside Science Hall are a perfect place to raise a family. It is unknown how many eggs may be in the nest, but the Canisius community may be treated to a few fluffy goslings in the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
