Ignatian Scholarship Day is Today, April 10

The 12th annual Ignatian Scholarship Day is today, Wednesday, April 10. Presentations are underway and will continue until 4:30 p.m.

The day includes poster, oral and multi-media presentations in various locations throughout Science Hall. There will be performances in Christ the King Chapel and photographs showcased in the Alumni Gallery.

The Ignatian Scholarship Day schedule can be viewed on the ISD portal page within the Academic Affairs community page in myCanisius.

We hope that you plan to attend this event and encourage students to attend as well.

As a reminder, Monday/Wednesday/Friday classes do not meet today. Monday/Wednesday and Wednesday only classes will meet today.

HAIL! Fredonia Records Fundraiser for the Institute for Autism Research

The Institute for Autism Research (IAR) was recognized at the Buffalo Bison’s game this past Saturday, April 4 during pregame ceremonies thanks to HAIL! Fredonia Records, a student run organization from SUNY Fredonia. Thanks to Alexander who threw out the first pitch for the IAR!

HAIL! Fredonia Records will host its 3rd annual “Lend a Paw for Autism: K9 Avengers Benefit” this Sunday, April 14 from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. at SUNY Fredonia. The themed event consists of a dog walk around the SUNY Fredonia campus, food, games, live music, a basket raffle and more. All proceeds benefit the IAR.

Faculty Meetup: Building Communities in Online and Hybrid Courses

The Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) will host a meetup on Tuesday, April 23 at 3:30 p.m. in Old Main 219. The meetup will focus on online and hybrid courses (this was rescheduled from Thursday, April 11).

Jennifer Stowe, professor in the School of Education and Human Services’ Literacy Program, will lead the discussion to examine power and respect for different voices and community in teaching. The starting point is the face-to-face classroom. Consulting critical theories in education, the meetup will explore new teaching relationships that build virtual, rich and productive communities in online and hybrid courses.

Join the conversation and discover new ways to develop strong social and teaching presence in online or hybrid courses! All faculty members are welcome!
