The men’s and women’s basketball teams will travel to Albany this weekend to compete for the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) championships with the hopes of earning a spot to compete in March Madness when the NCAA announces the tournament fields later this month.

The second seeded Golden Griffin men’s team will compete against Manhattan tonight, Friday, March 8 at 9:30 p.m. A Friday night win would move the Griffs to the Sunday, March 10 semifinals.

All men’s games can be heard on WECK 1230 AM. The men’s game tonight, March 8 will be televised on ESPN3. If they advance to the semifinals on Sunday, the game will be televised on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m. The men’s championship game on Monday, March 11 is at 9:00 p.m. on ESPN2.

The fifth seeded Golden Griffin women’s team will battle fourth seeded Monmouth University tomorrow, Saturday, March 9 at 2:30 p.m. A win would move the Griffs to the Sunday, March 11 semifinal at 11:00 a.m.

The women’s afternoon games tomorrow, March 9 and Sunday, March 10 (should they advance) will be on ESPN3. The women’s championship game is on Monday, March 11 at 2:30 p.m. on ESPNU.

On the men’s side, Takal Molson ’21 was named first team all-conference earlier this week and Malik Johnson ’20 was selected to the third team. On the women’s side, Sara Hinriksdottir ’19 earned second team kudos, while D’Jhai Patterson-Ricks ’20 was named to the third team.
