Griffin Week, the annual athletic-filled slate of competition, begins tonight, February 22 with a Battle of the Bridge hockey game versus Niagara University. Puck drop is set for 7:35 p.m. at the HARBORCENTER. The seven seniors on the men’s hockey team, Ian Edmondson, Dylan McLaughlin, Cameron Heath, Jimmy Mazza, Matt McLeod, Felix Chamberland and Alex Jaekle, will be honored in a pre-game ceremony beginning at approximately 7:25 p.m.

Both teams are fighting for playoff positioning as the regular season enters its final week of competition. Canisius competes against Niagara on Saturday, February 23 at 7:00 p.m. at Niagara University.

There is a concert at the Key Bank Center tonight at 7:00 p.m. and parking will be more expensive than usual.

The Canisius women’s basketball team will host a pair of MAAC games at the KAC this weekend. The Griffs host Siena College tonight, February 22 at 7:00 p.m. Click here to add this event to your calendar. They will host Monmouth University on Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. Click here to add this event to your calendar.

Canisius and Monmouth are tied for fifth place in the MAAC, both with 7-7 records, while Siena is a 1/2 game behind at 7-8. The top five teams receive a first-round bye in the MAAC Tournament. Sunday, February 24 is senior night for the following players: Sara Hinriksdottir, Zhane Irby, Amanda Schiefen and Maria Welch. They will be honored before tip-off.

The Canisius women’s lacrosse team opens its home portion of the 2019 schedule on Monday, February 25 at 1:00 p.m. at the KAC against 5th ranked Northwestern University. There is no admission charge. Click here to add this event to your calendar.
