Several members of the college’s
faculty and staff, who were recognized this past year as Employees of
Distinction, will be honored during halftime at the men’s basketball game on
Monday, February 4 at 7:00 p.m. President John Hurley and Linda Walleshauser,
associate vice president for human resources and compliance, will present the
awards.
Members of the faculty and staff who
will be honored at halftime include Tracy Callaghan, assistant director of the
griff center, Tom Prince, computer support specialist for ITS, Matt Kochan, librarian,
Erik Schneider, housekeeper for facilities management, Matt Gorczyca, assistant
director for the Canisius Fund and Summer Handzlik, director of the
Canisius Fund.
Free tickets are available for all
faculty and staff throughout the week in the Human Resources Office.
The Canisius College Video Institute production of the December episode of “Kaleidoscope” premieres Saturday, February 2 at 5:30 a.m. on WGRZ-TV Channel 2. This 30-minute television program celebrates the religious diversity of the WNY region and is produced in conjunction with the Network of Religious Communities.
This program rebroadcasts each Friday at 6:30 p.m. over Time Warner Cable 20 and each Sunday at 8:00 p.m. over Time Warner 6 in Olean, NY.
In the first segment, Stan Bratton, PhD, executive director of the Network of Religious Communities, talks with Rev. Mark Blue, pastor of the Second Baptist Church located in Lackawanna, NY and president of the Buffalo Chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).
In the second segment, Dr. Bratton talks with Timothy Wadkins, PhD, professor of religious studies at Canisius College, about his new book entitled The Rise of Pentecostalism in Modern El Salvador.
Students in the Canisius College Video Institute produce “Kaleidoscope” under the guidance of Jamie O’Neil, professor of digital media arts and co-director of the Video Institute and Paula DeAngelis-Stein ’86, MS ’02, a long-time producer and director with Daybreak Productions and advancement director at Notre Dame Academy.

The Canisius College Women’s Rowing team is looking to teach any women on campus how to row! No prior experience is needed. Those interested will be taught this amazing sport from the very basics through taking strokes on the water.
