Canisius Giving Day is Wednesday, April 3! Stories have the power to inspire, encourage and transform. Canisius Giving Day 2019 is all about sharing and celebrating the individual stories that make Canisius so special.  It’s about using those stories to inspire Griffs everywhere to come together and give back so that the next generation of Canisius stories can be written.

Last year, 2,110 people came together and collectively contributed $448,350 for our students. This year, we’re aiming higher! Every story begins with a new chapter, and every gift to Canisius on April 3 will help write a chapter in the Canisius storybooks of current and future Griffs!

This year’s celebration will include a series of on-campus activities and other fun ways for faculty and staff to celebrate this special day, help make an impact, and fundraise for academic programs and athletic teams. Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.

If you have any questions about #CanisiusGivingDay, contact the Canisius Fund team at Ext. 2712.

The more people who come together on April 3, the more Canisius stories WE CAN tell.

Free Pilates Classes

Looking for a way to incorporate activity into your workday while improving your flexibility and posture? Look no further.  The Human Resources Department is sponsoring free pilates classes throughout the spring 2019 semester! All faculty and staff are invited to attend the class for an hour of muscle relaxation and strengthening.  Classes will run for eight weeks and begin on Wednesday, February 20. The classes will be led by Larry Tassini, laboratory manager in the Biology Department. There is no cost for this program.

If you have never attended a pilates class before, this is a great opportunity to learn, as the class will focus on practicing the fundamentals of pilates.  Those with experience are more than welcome as well, as this will be an opportunity to deepen and refine practice. Equipment will be provided for the class but be sure to wear comfortable clothing. Together, the class will enjoy core strengthening and conditioning as well as improving flexibility and endurance.

All classes will held on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. ‒ 6:00 p.m. on the following dates:

Wednesday, February 20 and 27 – Regis Room

Wednesday, March 6, 13, 27 – Regis Room

Wednesday, April 3 – Regis Room

Wednesday, April 10 – Palisano Pavilion

Wednesday, April 17 – Regis Room

To ensure that there is enough equipment, please RSVP to Mary Braun at Ext. 2240 or braun5@canisius.edu. We hope to see you there!

Faculty Photo Sessions

Photo shoots will be taking place for all faculty members who would like a head shot or are in need of a new head shot. Head shots are strongly encouraged, as they are used under the faculty sections on the Canisius website. There will be three photo sessions in various locations across campus for those who are available.

Photo Sessions:

Tomorrow, January 29 from 1:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. in the Science Hall Atrium

Thursday, January 31 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Lyons Hall 1st floor (by the main staircase)

To sign up for a day and time, click here.

More than one person can sign up for a time slot, as each head shot will not take more than a few minutes of your time!

Let’s ring in the new year with a fresh photo!

For questions regarding the sessions, contact Brianna Blank, multimedia producer for marketing and brand engagement, at blankb@canisius.edu.
