Stalking Awareness Month

January marks the 15th National Stalking Awareness Month. Stalking is a serious crime with real consequences. People ages 18 – 24 experience the highest rate of stalking and 80 percent of stalking survivors report knowing their stalker. Survivors may struggle with anxiety and depression as a result of their victimization, along with potential physical and sexual violence.

The Canisius Sexual Violence Prevention Team encourages faculty, staff and students to attend a workshop on Wednesday, January 23 (with sessions beginning at 5:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. in the Regis Room). The workshops will highlight the importance of stalking/cyberstalking awareness and what we all can do to intervene and support survivors.
