Employee Engagement Updates

As the end of a busy year draws near, I want to provide the campus with a brief update on the activities of the Employee Engagement Team over the past year. Representatives from divisions across the campus participated in discussions with Engagement Team members to talk about individual and departmental experiences, concerns and opportunities. The team also engaged in a number of conversations focused on a campus-wide priority: enhancing the student experience to increase student enrollment and retention which will continue to be an engagement focus and an ongoing priority.

The outcomes of these discussions have been reviewed with the college’s Senior Leadership Team and several new initiatives have been introduced and existing programs have been enhanced as a result. The college has continued to recognize employees for their accomplishments and dedication; senior administrators have increased their communications and a new discussion format for Town Hall Meetings has been introduced to provide faculty and staff with more information to address our questions and concerns; and opportunities for training and professional development have increased. Perhaps most appreciated was the new summer hours program staff enjoyed this summer. Looking ahead, we will continue to work in partnership with you to learn about more ways to enhance our working environment at Canisius and we will conduct the next staff engagement survey in 2019.
