“Feel Me in the Library” is an experiential installation that reflects on the conditions of feeling. The gallery will be visible in the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library from today, November 7 – January 25. Through interactive tools and how-to guides, the work advocates finding feeling as a radical practice. In a moment in which we are ever-more distracted from intuitive feeling by traumatizing news headlines, increasing virtual mediation and the mindfulness industry’s commodification of self, “Feel Me in the Library” offers a means of resisting apathy and enhancing empathy. The installation plays on its unique context within Canisius’s library, serving as a haven where students and other members of the campus community may retreat from their cerebral activities for some moments of somatic exploration.
On Friday, November 16 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. join the Fine Arts Department for a reception and talk in the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library with the artist Kyla Kegler.
