D2L Auto-Save in Quizzes

Later this week, D2L will begin automatically saving student answers in quizzes when:

  • Students click radio button or checkbox
  • Students click in the neutral space outside a text entry window

After this change, students will notice that the “Save” buttons are removed from inside quizzes. They must still click the “Submit” button to ensure the quiz submission is accepted for grading and review by their professor. Professors who use D2L quizzes should mention this change to their students.

COLI has updated their Student Quiz Tutorial Video to reflect this updated, streamlined quiz-taking experience.

If you would like to add this tutorial to your current D2L course spaces, use this link.

Faculty Meetup: Student Writing

The Canisius College Writing Center and the Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) are hosting a faculty meetup focused on student writing, taking place on Monday, October 29 from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. in the Regis Room.

More than ever, college faculty are under pressure to cultivate critical reading and writing skills in students. Courses, lessons and assignments compete with a wide variety of other priorities and media. We often struggle to persuade students that these intellectual virtues are worth their time.

Come meet the director of the new Canisius College Writing Center, Professor Graham Stowe, and learn what services the Writing Center offers to your students.  Also come prepared to share your experiences with and concerns about writing assignments in your courses.  For example, when did you do or discover something that you believe fostered reading and writing skills among students?  In what ways do you feel frustrated with existing or previous writing assignments in your classes? What can you share with colleagues across campus that might help them in their classrooms and disciplines?

All faculty are welcome and COLI will supply refreshments. Together, we can do much more!
