Ignatian Volunteer Corps Information Session

The Ignatian Volunteer Corps (IVC), a faith-based, non-profit organization was founded in 1995 by two Jesuit priests, Jim Conroy, S.J. and Charlie Costello, S.J. They dreamed of matching the dynamic abilities of men and women 50 years of age and more with poor, vulnerable and marginalized peoples served by IVC partner nonprofit organizations in part-time staff level positions and projects. The organization’s formal mission is for volunteers to serve the poor, work for a just society and to grow deeper in Christian faith by reflecting and praying in the Ignatian tradition individually and in community with other IVC service corps members. Approximately 500 volunteers are currently serving in 18 regions nationwide: Baltimore, Buffalo, Chicago, Cincinnati, Cleveland, DC/Metro Maryland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Minneapolis, New England, New York, Northern Virginia, Omaha, Philadelphia, San Diego, Saint Louis, Scranton and Syracuse.

Join Canisus College’s Mission & Identity group for an information session regarding the opportunities available to volunteer with IVC Buffalo on Friday, September 21 at 12:00 p.m. in the undercroft of Christ the King Chapel. Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending, please contact Sarah Signorino at signoris@canisius.edu or x2424 by Wednesday, September 19.
