Canisius Director of Public Safety Kimberly Beaty ᾿86 received a Medgar Evers Award from the Buffalo chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She accepted the award at a ceremony June 9.

Beaty was recognized for espousing the spirit of the NAACP in practice and in deeds. Medgar Evers Awards are named for the Civil Rights activist who served as the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi until his assassination in 1963.
