Today’s edition of The Dome debuts a fresh new look. The biggest change you will see is that articles appear in blue text on a white background. This format is more in line with the style of the college’s website. We hope you find it visually appealing and easier to read. We also removed functionality items that were obsolete and moved others around to make them easier for you to use. We hope you like the updates to your Dome newsletter. Canisius Director of Public Safety Kimberly Beaty ᾿86 received a Medgar Evers Award from the Buffalo chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). She accepted the award at a ceremony June 9.
Beaty was recognized for espousing the spirit of the NAACP in practice and in deeds. Medgar Evers Awards are named for the Civil Rights activist who served as the first state field secretary of the NAACP in Mississippi until his assassination in 1963.

The Human Resources Department announced Matt Kochan as the Canisius College Employee of Distinction for May 2018! Matt was nominated for the award by several of his coworkers.
At Canisius for eight years, Matt currently works as the librarian, head of public services in the library. Matt was selected for this award based on his outstanding customer service skills when interacting with students, faculty, staff and visitors; his consistent embodiment of Canisius’ vision and ideals; and his willingness to regularly perform tasks above and beyond the call of his job duties.
Please join us in congratulating Matt on this achievement!

Kimberly A. Venti has been named associate vice president for institutional advancement (AVPIA) at Canisius. She is responsible for creating, implementing and evaluating a comprehensive, multi-year plan to increase donors and dollars in support of Canisius. Venti is charged with engaging internal and external stakeholders in the planning and implementation of a compelling case for support of Canisius.
Venti works closely with President John J. Hurley and Vice President for Institutional Advancement William M. Collins, members of the Board of Trustees, and staff on development and implementation of a high-level prospect strategy. She also serves as leader of the development team, and provides day-to-day oversight for the staff by providing advice and guidance to development officers and support staff.
Venti has more than 15 years’ experience in development and fundraising for higher education and several of Buffalo’s major medical centers. Prior to Canisius, she was director of campaigns and major gifts at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC), where she created and directed a multi-million dollar capital campaign for the hospital’s new Trauma Center and Emergency Department. Venti also previously served as director of development for the University at Buffalo’s Jacob’s School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences where she was a key staff member in raising funds to build a new medical school downtown as part of a $200 million comprehensive campaign.
Venti holds a master’s degree in multidisciplinary studies and a bachelor’s degree in general studies from the State University College at Buffalo.
