Seven chemistry and biochemistry majors presented research results at the 11th Annual Western New York American Chemical Society Undergraduate Research Symposium on Saturday, April 28 at the University at Buffalo.  Anthony Berardi ᾿19 gave an oral presentation on his work in the laboratory of Jeremy Steinbacher, PhD, associate professor of chemistry/biochemistry, entitled, ” β-Cyclodextrin-Based Amphiphiles as Contrast Agents for 19F Magnetic Resonance Imaging.”  The following posters were also presented:

  •  “Synthesis of Fluorinated Molecules for Functionalization of Porous Silica Nanoparticles for use as 19F NMR Contrast Agents,” by Samanatha Caico᾿19 and Lauryn Rudin ᾿20 (from the laboratory of Jeremy Steinbacher, PhD)
  • “Laser Ablation/Molecular Jet Laser Excitation Spectroscopy of CaNCO,” by David Filion ᾿19 and Ben Russ ᾿19 (from the laboratory of Phil Sheridan, PhD, professor of chemistry/biochemistry)
  • “Computational Study of Aluminum Monoisocyante Isomers,” by Ben Russ ᾿19 (from the laboratory of Phil Sheridan, PhD)
  • “The Aldol Condensation Lab Experiment:  Validation of Student Reaction Rate Observations,” by Matthew Berardi ᾿20 and Filippo Gentile ’19, (from the laboratory of Tim Gregg, PhD, associate professor of chemistry/biochemistry)
