Griffs Host Nationally Televised Game Tonight
Free popsockets and dollar hot dog day
For the very first time, Canisius men’s lacrosse hosts a game at the Demske Sports Complex that will be broadcast nationally on ESPNU. ESPNU studio host Matt Schick calls the play-by-play alongside color commentator Matt Ward. Schick is a native of Rochester and graduated from the University of Colorado.
The Griffs host Monmouth at 4 p.m. tonight, Friday, April 27 in the game that has a direct bearing on the MAAC’s final standings and playoff matchups. Canisius (6-7;3-2) and the Hawks (6-7;3-2) are tied for third in the league with this one last game remaining on each team’s schedule. The loser will face the top seed, Quinnipiac, in next week’s MAAC Tournament, while the winner will face-off against the number two seed – Detroit Mercy.
There will be Golden Griffin popsockets given away to the first 500 fans. It’s also Dollar Dog Day with all hot dogs being sold at the concession stands for only a buck.
Tickets are $5 for faculty and staff with Canisius ID. Children under 10 are also $5, while all other seats sell for $7.

Softball Begins 10-Game Home Stand
Griffs face Monmouth and Rider
After playing only two of its first 37 games at home, the Canisius softball team opens a season-ending 10-game home stand this weekend. The Griffs are scheduled to host Monmouth on Saturday, April 28 and Rider on Sunday, April 29 with both doubleheaders slated to begin at noon at the Demske Sports Complex.
Fans are encouraged to check the www.GoGriffs.com web site after noon today (Friday, April 27) for any time or date changes. Saturday night’s women’s lacrosse playoff game may force softball to start earlier than scheduled. Inclement weather expected throughout the weekend could also impact schedule changes.

Women’s Lacrosse to Host Niagara in MAAC Playoff Game
Griffs hold share of MAAC title
By virtue of its victory Wednesday evening over Niagara, your Canisius Golden Griffin women’s lacrosse team has claimed a share of the 2018 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference title. The Griffs finished their regular season with a 6-2 league record along with Marist, Monmouth and Fairfield. Due to the MAAC’s tie-breaker policy, Canisius was awarded the fourth seed and will host #5 Niagara at the Demske Sports Complex Saturday evening, April 28 at 7 p.m.
Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for seniors, children and non-Canisius students. Canisius students are admitted free with a valid ID.
The game will be televised live on one of the ESPN platforms.

April 30 Faculty Meetup is Cancelled
Are you interested in a summer meetup?
The Center for Online Learning & Innovation must cancel its April 30 Faculty Meetup. However, COLI will offer faculty meetups in the fall 2018 semester, and possibly the summer if there is interest.
Meetups feature lively conversation over good food on topics of importance to professors. COLI Director Mark Gallimore is considering a faculty meetup specifically for faculty teaching online and hybrid courses to be hosted sometime in the summer, perhaps on a weekday evening in early June. If you are be interested in attending a summer faculty meetup, contact Mark at Ext. 8353 or gallimom@canisius.edu.
