Your Canisius Golden Griffins men’s basketball team (21-11) had their season extended Sunday evening when they accepted an invitation to the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). The CBI is a 16 team event that is played at campus sites. Unlike other post-season collegiate events, the championship is a best in two games out of three format.

The Griffs open the tournament in the Koessler Center this Wednesday evening (March 14) when the team hosts Jacksonville State (AL) at 7 p.m. The Gamecocks have a record similar to Canisius at 21-12. They dropped a five point decision at UB earlier in the year, downed Richmond by 33 and had close losses to Mississippi State (3 points) and Oregon State (1 point). The team features a balanced scoring attack with three players in double figures.

Tickets for the game go on sale today at 10 a.m. and may be purchased by calling the KAC box office at 888-TIXX or by visiting Ticketmaster.com. Season ticket holders have until noon on Wednesday to claim their seats. All tickets are priced at $15.00. The Griffins Den will open for food and beverage service at 5:45 p.m.
