Did you know that recycling your cell phone can help wild gorillas? Coltan, a mineral used in cell phone batteries, is mined in a key gorilla habitat. Eco-Cell is a company that recycles cell phones, which reduces the need to mine coltan. The Animal Behavior, Ecology and Conservation (ABEC) Department collects old cell phones, tablets, iPods and other small electronic devices. Please drop these items off in the Eco-Cell box in the ABEC office (HS201), Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. – 5 a.m, through the end of March. You can also help gorillas by participating in Yoga with Koga at the Buffalo Zoo on April 15. Proceeds will benefit the Limbe Sanctuary in Cameroon.
