Kittens on Campus

Kittens will take up residence in the Margaret L .Wendt Animal Behavior in Science Hall on Monday, March 19, and the campus community is invited to view training and enrichment sessions. In cooperation with the SPCA of Erie County, Miranda K. Workman’s ABEC 220: Animal Learning class is welcoming the kittens. The sessions will include teaching the kittens to walk into a carrier on their own and complete a small agility course, which makes them attractive adoption candidates and encourages positive relationships with humans that will help kittens transition to their new families. Stress and anxiety attached to catching and putting cats in a carrier are major reasons why cats are seen less often by veterinarians. For these kittens, there will be no stress or anxiety, as they will choose to enter the carrier by themselves. The kittens will be on campus until Friday, May 3.

The days and times for enrichment are:

  • March 19 – 23 (There will only be a morning session on March 23)
  • April 9 – May 3

Times:

  • Mondays and Wednesdays: 8:30 a.m., 12 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Tuesdsays/Thursdays/Fridays: 8:30 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays and Sundays: 9 a.m., 1 p.m. and 8 p.m.

All enrichment sessions are scheduled for one hour.

Coming in May: A New D2L!

In May 2018, D2L is getting a new look and feel.  The big change is that it will be “mobile-responsive” or much easier to use on tablet and mobile phone screens.  Meantime, in the Center for Online Learning & Innovation, we’re updating our tutorial videos to incorporate various feature changes over the previous three years as well as the new D2L interface.  Check out these two videos showing some basic procedures in the content area:

As you can see, while D2L looks dramatically different, most of the features are the same, and in the same place.  So in the new interface, your prior D2L experience will help you find the features you use now.
