Registration is open for the 20th Annual Canisius College Shoes for the Shelter 5K, presented by Independent Health. Registration forms can be found on-line at GoGriffs.com (click on the rotating banner ad in the middle of the page or click on the athletics tab across the top).
The registration fee for faculty, staff and students is reduced. The cost is $20 for faculty and staff and only $15 students. The price increases by $5 if the runner waits to register on the day of the race.
This year’s event is on April 15 at 10 a.m. The run begins and ends near the intersection of Main and Delavan. Participants are encouraged to donate any old shoes they have in their closets. Last year’s total of 2,897 pairs of shoes increased the all-time total to 38,049 pairs collected since 2001. Even non-runners are encouraged to donate shoes. They may be dropped off anytime at KAC Room 181 or can be deposited in specially marked boxes around campus the week prior to the race.
