Debbie is the first face most families see when they come to visit Canisius.  She is always very warm and welcoming.   Debbie is part of many students’ start here on campus and she gives back to help more students be able to take those first steps as a Griffin.

What do you enjoy most about your current position?

The diversity of the job. I enjoy meeting people and talking about Canisius College. We just had Scholar’s Day on Sunday and families were so excited to be here. Most feel privileged to be accepted at Canisius. I like being around positive people. I feel appreciated and very viable even after 36 years on campus.

What motivated you to make your first gift?

I wanted to give back for everything Canisius College has given me.

Why is supporting students through the Canisius Fund important to you?

I see so many of our students become so successful and not just monetarily successful. They start here as kids and leave as adults with careers and goals that they maybe didn’t think were imaginable. I want to be part of their success. Every Sunday my favorite part of The Buffalo News is the business section where it highlights the promotions in the Buffalo area. I always look for Canisius graduates to see if I knew them when they were on campus.

Why do you think it’s important for faculty and staff to support Canisius?

We are the students’ mentors. We help build them into the people they become. For many, this is their home away from home. Why wouldn’t we support them? We are a family.

What is your favorite campus event to attend each year?

Open House. Families come with a lot of questions and concerns.  I get to tell the (or my) Canisius story to anyone who will listen.

What is your fondest memory as a Canisius employee?

This goes back a few years when Father Demske was president. It is when he played his trombone at graduation.

How would you describe Canisius using only three words?

Prestigious, welcoming and committed.

Fun Fact: Where is your favorite place to get chicken wings from in Buffalo?

La Nova
