Call for Nominations for 2018 Distinguished Senior and Faculty Awards

The Canisius College Alumni Association invites you to submit nominations for the 2018 Distinguished Faculty and Senior Awards.

The Distinguished Faculty Award recognizes outstanding full-time faculty members of the college who are recognized for contributions to the academic world and teaching excellence. One award may be given per year and it is presented at the Honors Convocation in April.

The Distinguished Senior Award is presented to seniors who have differentiated themselves through academic excellence and leadership roles at the college. Up to three awards may be given per year. The awards are presented at the Student Awards Banquet in April.

*Please complete the sections of this form that correspond to Distinguished Senior and/or Distinguished Faculty nomination, then click the submit button at the bottom of the page.

The form will be sent to the Office of Alumni Engagement. Incomplete forms will not be accepted. Please submit nominations to the office of Alumni Engagement no later than February 9, 2018.

Courseleaf CLSS Training Available

It’s time to start thinking about scheduling classes for the summer and the fall.  Schedules are due on Friday, February 9.  Lisa Fischer, assistant registrar, student records and financial services, and Sara Morris, PhD, associate vice president, academic affairs, offer the following workshops on building schedules in Courseleaf Selection Scheduler (CLSS): Science Hall Room 002C on January 23 from 3 – 4 p.m., January 25 from 1 – 2:15 p.m. or January 29 from 2:30 – 3:45 p.m.

These sessions are intended for chairs and program directors but are open to any faculty or staff member who works on building schedules and needs to be trained or refreshed on the process.

Prevent Discrimination and Harassment Together

Canisius College is committed to providing a safe learning, working and living environment that is free from violence and unlawful discrimination and harassment. As part of that commitment, the college requires all faculty and staff to complete the course “Preventing Discrimination and Harassment Together” in the spring of 2018.  This online course is offered through United Educators and introduces a blended workplace harassment prevention program that utilizes real-life scenarios. Watch for The Dome for additional information in February.

Deadline for submissions is 2 p.m. Fridays.

On the last Monday of the month, we will announce our monthly winner and showcase all submissions.

Mileage Rate

Please note that as of January 1, 2018, the IRS changed the mileage reimbursement rate to 54.5 cents per mile. The travel expense report reflects the change.
