The Western Zone of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (NYS AHPERD) honored Greg Reeds, PhD, associate professor of kinesiology, as the Higher Education Teacher of the Year.  More than 60 local physical and health educators were in attendance on Monday, December 11 at its annual holiday banquet.  Canisius College physical education teacher education (PETE) alumni Dave Sardo ᾽88, MS ᾽97 and Kelly Strong ᾽99 were also honored with the Secondary Physical Educator of the Year and Western New York Zone’s Amazing Person Awards, respectively.  Canisius PETE students Annie Draves᾽18 and Eric Gold ᾽18 received the Western New York Zone’s PETE Majors of the Year Award.
