Alpha Kappa Psi, the professional co-ed business fraternity on campus, invites faculty and staff to participate in their newest fundraising event in the spirit of Thanksgiving. If you are well-loved by your students and want to find a great way to give back to a charity of your choice, look no further.

On  Tuesday, November 14 or Wednesday, November 15, Alpha Kappa Psi will host the first annual “AKPie Your Professors and Staff” event.  The date and exact times will be determined by faculty and staff responses and availability.

The premise of this fundraiser has two parts. In addition to selling delicious homemade pie for $1 a slice, students can buy tickets for $3 each or two for $5. Students can throw one pie in the face at the professor of their choice per ticket. (The pies will be whipped cream on a plate, so as not to waste perfectly good pie).

We will be provide protective gear including ponchos and goggles. We ask that you to be available for “pie-ing” for short time blocks during the event according to your availability.

The professor or staff member who takes the most pies to the face gets to choose which charity we donate a portion of the proceeds. We hope this gives you some incentive to encourage your classes and students you know to come and support your charitable efforts! The other portion of proceeds will help offset student expenses for our annual trip to the Principled Business Leaders Institute Conference which will be held in Boston this year in February.

If you are interested in participating in this event, please email Lauren Reno at renol@canisius.edu to discuss any questions you may have and to work out details for the timing of the event. We hope to get a great turnout for this event, and continue it annually as a Thanksgiving tradition from this year forward. Please note that we encourage every department to be represented at this event.

Thank you for your time and consideration and we hope to hear from you soon!
