Pick up anniversary flags in the Griff Center

Canisius College honors the 16th anniversary of 9/11 today, September 11 by passing out American flags outside the Griff Center for Academic Engagement, Old Main 013. Please stop by throughout the day and show your support for those who were impacted by this tragic event.

Canisius to Commemorate Constitution Day

Raichle Pre-Law Center hosts panel discussion

The Canisius College Raichle Pre-Law Center, along with the Bar Association of Erie County, commemorates Constitution Day on Tuesday, September 12 from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The event includes a panel discussion entitled “Responding to Constitutional Imperfections: The Theory and Practice of Constitutional Amendment throughout the United States.”

Speakers will include:

  • Christopher Bopst, chief legal and financial officer, Sam-Son Logistics
  • Professor James Gardner, University at Buffalo Law School
  • Lisa Parshall, PhD, associate professor of political science and history, Daemen College

The group examines how constitutions in the United States  – federal and state – are subject to amendment.  Robert A. Klump, director of the Frank G. Raichle Pre-Law Center, serves as moderator.  For more information, contact Klump at Ext. 2884.

COLI Faculty Development Workshop

Thomas Tobin, PhD, will speak on October 12

Professional-DevelopmentThe Center for Online Learning & Innovation welcomes Thomas J. Tobin, PhD, to Canisius to conduct a faculty development workshop on October 12, 4:00 ‒ 5:30 p.m. The workshop is open to all Western New York-area teachers. Drawing upon Universal Design for Learning (UDL) concepts developed for learners with disabilities, Tobin discusses how faculty can create new kinds of learning for all students. Professors learn how to practically and efficiently build UDL into their courses to benefit many kinds of students.

Tobin spent five years as the coordinator of learning technologies in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) at Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago, and is now a faculty developer and professional consultant in State College, Pennsylvania. Read more about Tobin here.
