Your Canisius baseball team finishes the regular portion of its 2017 season this week with three home games against Niagara. The Griffs and Eagles will meet in a twin bill on Thursday, May 18 at noon at the Demske Sports Complex with the second game to begin after. The final game of the set is scheduled to begin at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 19.

Both teams are desperate for wins as Canisius is trying to secure one of the two first-round byes in the MAAC tournament, while Niagara is pursuing wins in order to qualify for the championship. Going into the final weekend of play, four schools have clinched spots in the tournament (Canisius, Marist, Fairfield and Iona), while six more are fighting for the final two positions. This year’s MAAC tourney will be held in Western New York for the very first time with all games being played at Sal Maglie Stadium, May 24-27. The winner advances to the NCAA Tournament.

Congratulations to coach Mike McRae for recording his 400th win at Canisius this past week. The Golden Griffins are in the MAAC Tournament for the 11th consecutive year.
