Frank Dinan, PhD, professor emeritus of chemistry, authors an article in the “My View” section of The Buffalo News entitled “My love of science continues unabated.” Dinan recounts scientific discoveries that have made our lives easier but adds that science “is now in trouble and needs our help.”

Pitch Perfect

Canisius entrepreneurship students took home two awards at the fifth annual WNY Student 2 Biz Challenge for New York State Business Plan Competition at Hilbert College on Friday, April 7.

A total of eight students in the entrepreneurship major competed and two students won the awards. Ji-Hee Kim, PhD, faculty advisor and director of the Canisius Entrepreneurship program, guided and helped the students’ business plan. The following students were recognized:

  • Patrick Brady ’17, an entrepreneurship and management major, won in the service category for his pitch ‘Lake Effect Boulder Club’ idea (far right in photo).
  • Elizabeth Nolan ’17, an entrepreneurship and marketing major, received the Esprit de Corps Award for her idea of ‘Reading Habits’ (second from left in photo).

In addition to these two awards, the following students pitched their business plans and expanded their networking opportunities with investors and entrepreneurs:

  • Alexander Stuver ’17, entrepreneurship major, pitched “Buffalo Chicken Dip”
  • Connor Neil ’17, entrepreneurship and management major, pitched “Helping Hands”
  • Ellen Hamlett ’18, entrepreneurship and political science major, pitched “Campus Deals”
  • Jean Rios ’18, entrepreneurship major, and Alexander Montilla ’18, management major, pitched “College Trade Center”
  • Timothy Wysocki ’18, entrepreneurship and management major, pitched “The Community Garage”

Baseball Hosts UB Today

Your Canisius baseball team opens a two-game home-and-home series against the University at Buffalo today, April 11 at 3:00 p.m. on the Demske turf. The Griffs then travel to Amherst for a 3:00 p.m. game on Wednesday, April 12 at the Northtown Center.
