Mariusz Kozik, PhD, chair and professor of chemistry and biochemistry, and Sarah Evans, PhD, assistant professor of chemistry and biochemistry, traveled with three students to present posters on their research at the 253rd National Meeting of the American Chemical Society in San Francisco, CA.

Ben Swanson ’17 and Jack Verdi ’19 presented their poster “Further Investigation of Transition Metal Substituted Polyoxotungstates in Non-Polar Solvents using 2D DOSY 31P NMR and Density Functional Theory.” Demi Xenos ’17 presented her poster “What Makes Lyme Disease Tick?  Impact of Mutations on Global Regulator BosR.”
In addition, these students accepted the Outstanding Student Chapter Award on behalf of the Canisius Student Chapter of the American Chemical Society (SCACS).  The Canisius SCACS is one of only 46 chapters nationwide to be given this highest honor, which is the ninth consecutive annual award given to the Canisius Chapter. In addition, the Canisius SCACS also received a Green Chemistry Award, for its green chemistry activities.
