Phoenix Rises

Elizabeth “Beth” Kocianski-Copeland ’02 became the youngest ever to be inducted into World Wrestling Entertainment’s Hall of Fame during a ceremony Friday, March 31 which was part of Wrestlemania weekend.

Known as Beth Phoenix to fans, “The Glamazon” used her brute strength and power to showcase what women are capable of in the ring during her career, becoming a three-time Women’s Champion and one-time Diva’s Champion.

She and husband Adam Copeland, better known as Edge, are the first husband and wife to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Dreher ’95 Inducted into National Teachers Hall of Fame

The National Teachers Hall of Fame now has Western New York connections with the induction of Ashli Dreher ’95. Dreher is the first teacher from the Buffalo Niagara region to be inducted.

A special-education teacher at Lewiston-Porter School District, Dreher will be honored at an April 28 gala at the National Education Association headquarters in Washington and formally inducted June 23 at Emporia State University in Kansas where the Hall of Fame is located.

“I just love it. I can’t imagine doing anything else,” said Dreher. “I’m certified as a school district administrator, but I can’t see myself leaving the classroom.”

This Week in the Griff Center

Be sure to check out some of the upcoming events in the Griff Center for the week for April 2.

Resume Wednesday will be held on Wednesday, April 5 from 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. in the Employer Services Suite.

On Thursday, April 6 the Veterans Community Series returns at 12:00 p.m. followed by the Professional Communications Workshop at 4:00 p.m. in the Employer Services Suite. Finally, a Biology Career Panel will be held at 6:00 p.m. in the Student Center Regis Rooms. This is a great opportunity for biology majors to hear from alumni of the program! As always, keep an eye out on Handshake for other great events!

Baseball Finishes Four-Game Home Stand

After a busy weekend at the Demske Sports Complex, your Canisius baseball team will conclude a four-game home stand on Tuesday, April 4 with a 3:00 p.m. game against Big Four rival, St. Bonaventure University.

The Griffs concluded a three-game home series against Monmouth on Sunday finishing 2-1.
