RAISE Benefit Dinner Tonight

Celebrate the start of spring break by attending Campus Ministry’s RAISE Benefit Dinner tonight, March 10, from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.

Food tastings from around the world will be available along with a cash bar, a basket raffle, a silent auction and live music! A ticket to the event is $25. A group package (four tickets) is available for $75. All tickets for Canisius students and children between the ages of 11-17 will be $10. Children 10 and under are free.

Tickets may be purchased at the door or beforehand at the Office of Campus Ministry, located in Old Main 207.

All proceeds will help more than 50 Canisius students who are taking part in one of Campus Ministry’s 2017 international immersion programs this summer. Students will be journeying to locations around the globe to live out the Jesuit ideals of men and women with and for others.  To find out who will be attending the trips, click here.

Canisius Student Receives 2017 Independent Sector Community Service Award

The Commission on Independent Colleges and Universities (CICU) awarded Alexandria M. Iwanenko ’17 a 2017 Independent Sector Community Service Award and a $500 H.D. Paley Scholarship.  She was recognized for her outstanding record of community service during her time at Canisius College.

Iwanenko is a senior Spanish/international relations and Latin American studies dual major at Canisius.   She was among 10 Independent Sector Community Service Award recipients who received their awards during the CICU’s annual meeting in Albany on March 6.

The award honors outstanding Independent Sector TAP students for their leadership in community service throughout New York State. This year’s recipients serve as exemplary examples of the role that independent higher education plays in strengthening the state and its communities.

Hockey to Host Niagara This Weekend

The quarterfinal pairings for the Atlantic Hockey Tournament are set as your Griffs host Niagara this weekend in a best two out of three series at the HARBORCENTER.

Canisius and the Purple Eagles will meet tonight, March 10 at 7:35 p.m. and Saturday, March 11 at 8:05 p.m. If necessary, they will play again Sunday, March 12 at 6:35 p.m.

Tickets may be purchased in advance by calling 888-TIXX. Saturday’s game will be televised live by Time Warner.

Fans should consider using public transportation to Friday and Saturday night’s contests. There is a WWE event at Key Bank Center on Friday night and the Sabres are home Saturday night. In addition, HARBORCENTER is hosting the state high school championships on Saturday and Sunday.

WiFi Upgrades this Weekend

wifiThe campus wireless (WiFi) will be unavailable on Saturday, March 11 beginning at approximately 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. This includes the “gryphon,” “CanisiusWireless” and “CanisiusGuest” networks.

The downtime is necessary in order to upgrade controller and access-point firmware.

Wired services will not be affected.
