Ruth J. Schwendler left Canisius a surprise – more than $1 million in her will! Bill Collins, vice president for institutional advancement, tells The Buffalo News, “In the fundraising world, we refer to this as the bluebird, the bluebird of happiness. So we were absolutely thrilled.”
The gift established the Ruth J. Schwendler Scholarship in Memory of Henry and Clara Schwendler and provides as much as $50,000 per year in financial aid to Canisius students.
