Join the Celebration of Tenebrae

Join the Canisius community in the celebration of Tenebrae with Cantio Sacra and Campus Ministry on Thursday, March 30 at 8:00 p.m. in Christ the King Chapel.

This unique service is observed in the darkness of the chapel as attendees hear the Passion of the Lord through scripture and music with only 14 lit candles. Throughout the service, candles will be gradually extinguished until we remain in darkness as we reflect on Jesus’ death.

All are welcome and encouraged to attend this powerful evening of prayer.

Timekeepers Needed for Ignatian Scholarship Day

The 10th annual Ignatian Scholarship Day is in need of faculty, staff and administrator volunteers to act as timekeepers or presiders at this year’s event on Wednesday, April 5. Timekeepers introduce the session and the student scholars and keep time during the presentation.  Students have 10-15 minutes to present with approximately three minutes allotted for fielding questions before audience and presenters rotate out of the venue.

There are concurrent sessions running from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (10:00 – 11:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m., 2:00 – 3:00 p.m., and 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.), and each session is 20 minutes in length.  Volunteers have successfully made this happen like clockwork at past events. If you are a faculty mentor for a student presenter and can be a timekeeper for that paper, please let Connie Pileri know by providing the name of the student.

If you are interested and available to assist, please send your availability, preferably in 20-minute intervals, to eventmgt@canisius.edu or by calling the Office of Event Services at Ext. 2180.
