mid-south-confGreg Reeds, PhD, associate professor of kinesiology, served as the keynote speaker and featured presenter at the 20th Annual Mid- South Psychological Conference. The Conference was hosted by the Psychology Department of the University of Tennessee-Martin on February 25. Psychology faculty from five universities (Vanderbilt, UT-Knoxville, UT-Martin, Christian Brothers University and The University of Memphis, Lambuth) were in attendance along with student research presenters.

The keynote address was titled Contemporary Research in Sport Psychology. The address focused on two aspects of an ongoing research project about interpreting children’s self-esteem drawings. This is a joint research project with Lauren Cavanaugh, PhD, assistant professor of kinesiology and Canisius’ Ignatian Scholarship student Mary Morgan ’18. The second emphasis presented research in the area of animation and information processing: A Case for Considering Learning Styles when Teaching Team Tactics and Strategy.

The special interest presentation by Reeds was titled Developing Mental Toughness in Sport: Psychological Interventions.
