The Blue and Gold Brigade, the official Pep Band of Canisius College, is running its Pie Wars fundraiser to assist in postseason travel expenses to the MAAC tournament in March, to play and cheer on our basketball teams. A member of the Canisius community will be chosen to get a pie in the face during halftime at tonight’s men’s basketball game against Niagara.
Here is how you can participate:
- Drop off donations at our booth in the library today, February 10 from 12:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. or drop off donations directly to Bryan Sibbits, director of the Blue and Gold Brigade, in Lyons Hall Room 120 until 4:00 p.m.
- Put your donations into the jars of our victims (I mean, volunteers!) who you would like to see get a pie in the face.
- The volunteer with the most money in their jar “wins” the pie in the face!
This year, we have three wonderful volunteers who have graciously donated their time (and face) to support this fundraiser:
Eddie Zirnheld ’15 – Eddie is an alumnus and current graduate student in the Sport Administration Program. Eddie serves as a graduate assistant in athletics, running game day promotions for both the men’s and women’s basketball games.
Elias Ayoub ’17 – Elias is a senior and current president of the Undergraduate Student Association (USA).
Joseph Van Volkenburg – “JVV” is a senior associate campus minister and an avid Canisius athletics supporter.
The “pie-ing” will also be videotaped and shared in The Dome in case you are not able to attend the game.
Thank you for all of the support and enthusiasm you have shown the Pep Band thus far. It is appreciated and noticed by the students and myself!
