Budget Request Review Sessions

The Fiscal Year 2017-18 (FY18) budget request process is underway. The Controller’s Office will be offering training sessions for those who are new to the process and for those who need a review. There will be three classes scheduled for the following dates:

Friday, January 27 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. in Regis North.

Thursday, February 2 from 10:30 – 11:30 a.m. in Horan O’Donnell Room 202.

Friday, February 3 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. in Regis South.

Pre-registration is not required. Just pick a session and show up.

Griffs Host Two Conference Games

Your Canisius men’s basketball team jumps back into conference play this weekend with tilts on Saturday afternoon and Monday evening.

Saturday, January 28, the Manhattan Jaspers visit the Koessler Center for a 2:00 p.m. tip. The first 400 fans will receive a complimentary Buffalo Chicken Crunch Roll from Mac’s on Hertel. Later on, fans with the BlueGoldWin app will be eligible to win one of our Super Bowl prize packages consisting of a 32″ TV, Beats by Dr. Dre headphones, Pepsi coolers and Super Bowl hats from the Falcons and Patriots. All prizes are supplied by Pepsi and Sports Promotions. Arrive early and make sure you check in on the app to be eligible to win.

Prior to Saturday’s game, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) will host a pre-game tailgate party in the Student Center. The event runs from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and is open to all Canisius students.

Monday, January 30, Canisius hosts Rider with the first 200 students receiving a “DomeSweetDome” t-shirt. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Google Apps for Education Meetup

On Tuesday, January 31 at noon, the Center for Online Learning & Innovation (COLI) is hosting the first in a series of meetups for users of (or those who could potentially benefit from using) Google Apps for Education.  Bring your lunch! We’ll meet in Old Main 119, where computers, internet and collaborative spirit are plentiful.

If you do something with Google Apps to teach, help students, make administrative work less burdensome or facilitate research, please show us!  Bring your questions for the group!  Complete novices, casual users and power users all welcome!

Women’s Business Center: New Contracting Series Workshop

The Women’s Business Center (WBC) is offering a three-hour educational contracting workshop entitled “Navigating at the State Level” as part of its Contracting Series on Thursday, February 9 from 5:30 – 8:30 p.m. in Science Hall, Room 1008. Attendees will learn how to utilize the Contract Reporter program to market and represent their businesses, and learn of the upcoming contracts.

Seating is limited and registration is required. All those interested must register by Wednesday, February 8.

Survey for Community-Supported Agriculture Program

In 2016, the college participated in a Community-Supported Agriculture (CSA) program (Farm Share) with Porter Farms. The Human Resources Department is asking for your input regarding the program even if you did not participate, as they are evaluating options for 2017.  It would be appreciated if you would complete a short survey regarding the program.  The survey will be open through January 31.
