On Monday, January 23, Peace Action-Canisius and the Western New York Peace Center will hold an event entitled, Haiti and Hurricane Matthew: How to Help, from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. in the Science Hall Commons.

Speakers at the event are:

Katherine Mang, Mother’s Club of Haiti Microloans, (http://www.mclubsth.org); Renee Geitz, First Trinity Lutheran Church, which runs projects in Torbeck, Les Cayes; and Ile-a-Vache and Rev. Elena Delgado, First Presbyterian Church of Buffalo, which is partnering with waterequalslife.org.

On October 4, Hurricane Matthew tore through Haiti causing widespread destruction of buildings, agriculture and human lives. And we remember the January 2010 earthquake whose effects are still felt. Haiti’s vulnerability to natural disasters is the result of human policies. Hear how Buffalo is working for recovery and policy change.
