The students in the ABEC 404: Wildlife Ecology and Conservation in South Africa class embarked on wonderful fundraising efforts, and they need your help! The class is raising funds for two projects: (1) to purchase a cattle-guarding dog for a farmer in South Africa and (2) to begin to replace old power lines with insulated power lines to prevent primates from being electrocuted. Here are three ways that you can help:

  1. Check out the Go Fund Me Page: https://www.gofundme.com/saving-leopards-one-puppy-at-a-time-2uqvx2s to help purchase a cattle-guarding dog. These dogs are raised with the cattle and stay with them day and night. Their mere presence deters predators like leopards.
  2. Go to the Panera location at 765 Elmwood Avenue for dinner on November 15 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and show the below flyer. The power line project will receive 20 percent of the proceeds.image
  3. Buy some lovely posters designed by the students, which will be on sale near the Andrew L. Bouwhuis Library during the week of November 8.
