Sara Vescio, executive director of the Women’s Business Center (WBC), discusses the WBC in this October 16 article of The Buffalo News.
Vescio discusses the state of women-owned businesses in the Buffalo-Niagara Region stating “Women have been starting up businesses at a faster rate than any other population, and Western New York is at the same pace as the rest of the country.”
Vescio also adds that the biggest issue is that women-owned businesses are starting up with less capital. “They’re getting less in loans and they’re getting less venture capital than male-owned firms.” Vescio states that the WBC includes training as well as a support network to assist in business growth.
