The Physical and Health Education Teacher Education (PHETE) program in the Department of Kinesiology hosted a health and physical education teacher panel on Tuesday, October 4.

Coordinated largely by the efforts of adjunct professor Courtney Kelly MS ’01, teacher candidates in attendance included those from health curriculum and teaching methods in physical education courses, taught by Clancy Seymour ’97, MS ’99, EdD.

Panelists included Chris Dolce ’97 (Smallwood Elementary, physical educator), Stefan Henn MS ’94 (Amherst Middle, physical educator), Janet Battaglia (Amherst Middle, physical educator), Kiel Illg ’07, MS ’09, PhD (director of health, physical education and athletics, Amherst Central Schools), Paul Wierzbieniac (Amherst High School, physical educator), and Michael Hardy ’15 (Lackawanna Central Schools, physical and health educator).

The event proved valuable for those present with a rich discussion about the current trends in the health and physical education teaching profession.
