Banned Book Week, organized by Canisius archivist and special collections librarian Kathleen DeLaney ’73, was held this week in the Library. Several alumni shared their experiences during Wednesday’s program entitled “Whistle Stop.”
Pictured from left to right: Megan Kemple (poet/actor); Justin Karcher ’07 (Tailgating at the Gates of Hell); Ben Brindise, a member of Buffalo’s national award-winning #PureInkPoetry Slam Team; Aidan Ryan ’14, adjunct professor of English at Canisius and Pat Kewley, whose credits include Salon, Slate and McSweeney’s. The group read from important historically banned or censored works before sharing their own works, including protest poetry, punk rock and riffs.
