On Tuesday, September 20, Apple will release another major OS update, MacOS Sierra. To all faculty and staff with Canisius-owned Macintoshes, ITS asks that you hold off upgrading your devices until it has checked the compatibility with existing systems and software. Later on in the year, ITS will provide the green light to download Sierra through either the App Store or Self Service.
iOS 10
On Tuesday, September 13, Apple released iOS 10 to the general public. At this point ITS has no current restrictions for faculty and staff to upgrade their devices to 10. However, ITS advises users to keep the following in mind:
1. Consider waiting until a later version of the OS has been released. Usually a couple weeks to a month after the release date, developers have solved several of the major bugs.
2. Backup your iOS device using iTunes on your PC or Mac.
