Spotlight on Student Learning

sl-physical-education-spotlightStudents in the advanced online physical education master’s program complete a physical education electronic portfolio as the culminating activity to their degrees. The portfolio includes a mission/philosophy statement, resume, sample lesson plans, classroom assessments and assignments associated with the online advanced program. The reflection includes professional development activities. The portfolio, completed in the PEG 684 class, is used to assess candidate mastery and understanding of the subject matter, its applications and the ability to utilize reflection in professional development. The assignment and grading rubric is aligned to National Association of Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) and National Board Professional Teaching Standards (NBTPS).

Acclaimed Mexican Soprano to Perform at Canisius

LealMexiCanisius and the Friends of Hispanic Arts joined forces to host the acclaimed Mexican soprano Lupita Leal, accompanied by guitarist Michael Mendoza. The event will be held on Sunday, April 17 at 7:00 p.m. in the Montante Cultural Center.

Leal comes to Canisius with extensive knowledge and experience in her craft. She is currently the Artist-in-Residence at the Universidad Michoacana de san Nicolas de Hidalgo and previously served as the director of the Casa de la Cultura “Chamacuero” of Guanajuato from 2009-2012.

Leal performs all over the U.S with various chamber and symphony orchestras, and with many other well-known performers, including famous Mexican tenor Juan Miguel Lopez, Spanish pianist Felipe Ramirez and the Mariachi Mexicanisimo.
