S-Emily-Baker-Spotlight-educationEmily Baker ’17, a childhood education and special education dual major, is the recipient of the Delta Kappa Gamma (DKG) Alpha Lambda Chapter Ida M. Lautz Award. DKG promotes the professional and personal growth of women educators and excellence in education. DKG strives to make a positive impact on students and teachers worldwide.  Each year it solicits teacher preparation programs for nominations of outstanding future teacher candidates. Emily Baker was recommended based on her performance and accomplishments both personally and professionally.  Emily not only excels in the classroom and in her field placements in local Buffalo schools, but also has successful leadership roles as a resident assistant, vice president of the Teacher Education Club and vice president of the Council for Exceptional Education. She actively participated in a pilot for the Education Living Learning Community. Emily is also involved with community service with organizations such as Vive la Casa and volunteered to help celebrate birthdays for children at The Makowski School. Presently, Emily works as an attendant with the West Seneca Recreation Department. Emily has truly embraced a life of service for others.
